25-year-old journalist
Borneo Bulletin, Brunei Press Sdn Bhd, Brunei Darussalam
I joined the newspaper in February last year, after five years with banking giants HSBC and SCB. I had no prior experience in journalism or news reporting but because of my passion in writing since school days and my profound interest in international and local affairs, I made the decision to shift to this career path with high hopes of excelling in this field and career.
During my nearly two year tenure in the company, I have been given only minimal training from my supervisors and most of my learning process derived from hands-on and on-the -field tasks. From handling small stories until today, I have evolved slowly and have been given the trust to write more prominent articles such as reporting large scale events (National events, Asean meetings, Asean-EU, State visits) and pursuing active stories.
I don’t have any specific beat in reporting as I’m an all rounder but generally report on home affairs, breaking news and business and finance stories.
I enjoy fine dining, traveling, fitness and photography. Contact me: bujang.abdulhakim[at]
